What are Dermaceutic Peels good for?

The results are improvements in the skins appearance by treating problematic acne, oily skin, pigmentation, wrinkles, fine lines, and damage caused by (sun)light. The peel can be used on almost all parts of the body including the face, and are suitable for almost every skin type and colour. There are some products in the range that can also be used to treat stretch marks and melasma (darker facial skin discolouration).

Who should not use the Dermaceutic Peels treatment?

Pregnant women; women who are breastfeeding; those currently using a chemical peel, laser skin rejuvenation programme or those using retinol products should not use dermaceutic peel. Those suffering from recent sunburn, scarring, depiliation (hair removal) and skin infections such as herpes should also avoid using the peeling products.

What types of Dermaceutic Peels are there?

There are four main types of peels. There is the mask peel which is used for the treatment of acne, oily skin and removing dead skin cells; the milk peel is used for wrinkles, skin lightening and spot treatment; spot peel for skin rejuvenation, acne damage and stretch marks; and the cosmo peel for melasma and skin pigmentation.

Are all skin types suitable?

The cosmo treatment ought to be used on skin types 1-3 (fair to medium colours) while the the spot treatment should be used on skin types 5 and 6 (brown and dark skin colours e.g. Middle Eastern, Asian, African etc).

What happens during a Dermaceutic Peels treatment?

In all cases, the skin is cleaned using Dermaceutic Cleanser 5 and then rinse with water. The desired peel is then applied to the face after the skin has been rinsed and left for awhile before being rinse off with water. Each treatment can generally be expected to be repeated every two weeks for up to four sessions, although the spot peel can only be applied again after a month. When using either the milk, cosmo or spot peel, to improve the final result it is advisable to twice daily apply Dermaceutic Serum 25 to the skin along with Turnover or Light Ceutic at night during the two weeks prior to treatment. After using either the milk or cosmo peel, direct contact with sunlight should be evaded and sunscreen, such as Sun Ceutic, should be used. Repair creams such as K Ceutic and Hyal Ceutic may also be applied to areas of redness or irritation. Once these symptoms have disappeared, it is recommended that Serum 25, Turnover, or Light Ceutic is continued to be used.

Are there any side-effects?

There are potential side effects that would be further discussed with a consultant but it is common for patients to experience redness and irritation in the first three days after treatment, which can be quickly resolved by use of the at-home skincare products.
